My family is so grateful for the support of MND Victoria on this unanticipated and unwelcome journey. Dad has had to navigate so much so quickly since his diagnosis in July 2025 while it's been overwhelming, it's been manageable with the help of our MND Advisor, Annabel. The load I will be carrying is a pair of running shoes. Poor JD has been put through the ringer over the last 6 months trying to find the right combination of AFO/ orthotic / shoe / sock /walking frame etc to allow him to move around comfortably. It's still unresolved. So the shoes are symbolic of his resilience through all of that.I am choosing to help carry the load and walk 10km in support of people living with motor neurone disease (MND), their carers and families. For 45 years, MND Victoria has provided care and support services for those living with MND - from equipment, support groups, support coordinators, counselling service and more. I am participating in the Carry The Load challenge to help raise vital funds that go towards providing direct care and support to the over 600 families impacted by MND in Victoria today.
